Welcome to Cylinder Six

Cylinder Six is an Internet Development company based in Auckland, New Zealand.

What do we do?

We make applications —"web applications"— that run in your web browser, and have done so for over a decade.

What's a web application?

What many people would refer to simply as a website are in fact web applications. This includes most well-known websites — for example, Google, Amazon, eBay, and YouTube.

Any website that can take online orders, or displays video, or involves a significant amount of user interactivity is typically called a web application.

Do we make websites?

Yes. Web applications are websites, just a bit more complex than, well, the one you're looking at right now, for example. However, we don't do design or make websites look nice. We build the stuff behind the scenes.

If your website were a house, we'd do the foundations, and the wiring, and the plumbing — all the things you don't see — but we wouldn't do the painting or the interior design.

What technologies do we use?

Different solutions call for different technologies. We develop most web applications using Microsoft's ASP.NET, but we also do a lot of work with Adobe Flash.

Of course, our work almost always involves HTML, Javascript, CSS and XML, as these are the languages of the Internet.

Why ought you to employ us?

We've worked with high-profile companies in real-world environments, where performance, reliability and security are paramount. We're not fresh out of university; we're specialists, and we're professionals.

Who have we worked for?

Over the course of the last twelve years, we've performed work for well over a hundred companies, including:

Are we any good?

Our work has been recognized with four Nexus Awards — two Silvers, one Gold, and one Supreme (the best possible) — for our work with Lexus.

Our Lexus work also won a coveted International ECHO Award, which is considered the premier award for direct marketing in the world.

We've also won a number of RSVP awards for our work with Air New Zealand and the Bank of New Zealand.
